9 DAYS / 8 NIGHTS

Guatemala From Above.

Nine days that turn long drives into short flights. Stay in hand-picked boutique hotels — Villa Bokeh in Antigua, Casa Palopó on Lake Atitlán and Las Lagunas near Tikal — and travel between them by helicopter, with volcanoes and lakes passing beneath you. Catch sunset on Acatenango by 4×4, cross Atitlán by boat to its Maya villages, reach the turquoise pools of Semuc Champey and the remote pyramids of El Mirador, and finish among Tikal’s temples. A vehicle and driver are on call 24/7, with breakfasts, lunches and every entrance arranged before you land.

DAY BY DAY

The Route

Our team welcomes you at the airport and escorts you to Antigua, where you check into Villa Bokeh and settle into the calm of the colonial city’s cobblestone streets.

A guided walk through the convents, churches and landmarks of this UNESCO World Heritage city, then an afternoon 4×4 drive up Acatenango to a viewpoint facing Volcán de Fuego for sunset and dinner on the volcano before returning to Antigua.

An 11:00 am helicopter flight past the volcanoes, landing at Casa Palopó in Santa Catarina Palopó. The afternoon is free to wander the village and take in the lake.

A boat tour to Santiago, home of the revered Maximón, a tuk-tuk ride through its streets, and San Juan, where a women’s cooperative keeps ancient weaving techniques alive among murals of Maya life.

Cook with a Maya family after shopping the local market, fly Guatemala’s longest zipline (including its bicycle section), or hike four hours on San Pedro volcano looking for the quetzal. Let us know your choice in advance.

A two-hour flight to the turquoise pools and waterfalls of Semuc Champey in Alta Verapaz, explored with a 4×4 ground team, then on by helicopter to the helipad at Las Lagunas near Flores. Involves some uneven terrain.

A 35-minute flight to El Mirador, home of La Danta — the largest pyramid by volume in the world. About six hours on foot to climb La Danta and El Tigre and see Los Frisos, with a box lunch and cooler, before flying back to the hotel.

A private tour of Tikal at the time you choose — early morning or late afternoon for cooler air and more wildlife — with an optional Maya ceremony as a farewell. Dinner on Flores island on request.

A transfer to Mundo Maya Airport at a time that fits your flight home.
