8 DAYS / 7 NIGHTS

Three Landscapes. One Trip.

Eight days, three landscapes, one guide. You’ll walk Antigua’s colonial streets under a ring of volcanoes, cross Lake Atitlán by boat to Maya villages that still speak Tz’utujil and Kaqchikel, paddle a kayak across water so still it mirrors San Pedro volcano, and fly north to Tikal — where howler monkeys wake the jungle before your guide leads you up Temple IV for sunrise over the canopy. Every transfer, flight, hotel night and meal is arranged before you land; the only decision left is which temple to climb first.

DAY BY DAY

The Route

Touch down and your guide meets you at the gate. The transfer to Antigua passes cornfields and the slopes of Volcán Agua before you check in — the evening is yours to find dinner on a candlelit cobblestone street.

A walking tour through Antigua’s colonial core — Santa Catalina Arch, the ruined Capuchinas convent, the central plaza — then a drive into the surrounding villages for hand-woven textiles and open-air markets.

A guided hike up Pacaya’s black volcanic rock to within sight of glowing lava fields, with the afternoon free back in Antigua for a coffee tour, a cooking class, or the Parque Central with a good book.

The road to Panajachel drops you at the edge of a lake ringed by three volcanoes. A boat crossing reaches villages that each keep their own patron saint, market day and dress — Santiago Atitlán and San Juan la Laguna among them.

Paddle out at your own pace on water Aldous Huxley once called the most beautiful lake in the world — volcanoes on every side, your guide pointing out what you’d otherwise miss.

A short flight north trades the highlands for Petén jungle. From Flores, the transfer to your hotel near Tikal National Park puts you in position for tomorrow’s sunrise.

Before dawn, you’re inside Tikal while it still belongs to the howler monkeys. Climb Temple IV as mist burns off the canopy, then walk the Great Plaza, Temple I and the Lost World complex with an archaeological guide.

A final flight south to Guatemala City connects to your onward travel — eight days, three ecosystems, and a small group you now know by name.
