5 DAYS / 4 NIGHTS

Four Icons. Five Days.

Short on time, not on Guatemala. In five days you’ll walk Antigua’s colonial streets, hike the slopes of Pacaya — one of the country’s three active volcanoes — to see lava up close, cross Lake Atitlán by boat to the Maya villages of San Juan and Santiago, and fly north to Tikal for a guided walk among the pyramids of the most emblematic Maya city of all. Flights, transfers, hotels, park entrances and your boat tour are arranged before you land; all that’s left is to show up.

DAY BY DAY

The Route

Your guide meets you at La Aurora International Airport for a short drive through Guatemala City before the two-hour transfer to Antigua. Check in and spend the evening exploring the colonial streets at your own pace.

After breakfast, a walking tour of Antigua’s convents, first Catholic churches and the former seat of Central America’s colonial government — shaped around your interests, with a Zacapa rum tasting as an option. After lunch, an hour’s drive to Pacaya for a two-hour hike up one of Guatemala’s three active volcanoes, close enough to see the lava.

A 6:00 am pickup and a 2.5-hour drive west to Panajachel, where a boat takes you across the lake to San Juan, known for its textile and painting cooperatives, and Santiago, where you’ll learn about Maya spiritual traditions. Free time in Panajachel for souvenirs before returning to Antigua for dinner.

An early (3:00 am) transfer to the airport for the flight to Flores, where your guide takes you into Tikal National Park. Explore towering pyramids, temples and plazas deep in the rainforest, with lunch included, before an evening on Flores island.

A transfer to Mundo Maya Airport in Flores for your flight back to Guatemala City and your onward connection.
