On this tour you will be able to discover the most emblematic places in Guatemala, admire the wonderful landscapes of the volcanoes from above, walk among the ancient Mayan ruins, swim in the most beautiful lake in the world or simply take a walk through the cobbled streets of the picturesque colonial city that was once the capital of the country. We invite you to get to know our culture and our traditions on this tour full of history, nature and a lot of magic.
ITINERARY
DAY 1 - Arrival to the City, Transfer to Antigua
We begin our adventure at La Aurora International Airport in Guatemala City. Upon arrival, the Tikal Go staff will be waiting for you to accompany you to the first stop: Antigua Guatemala. After approximately 2 hours, we will be arriving at the hotel where you can check in, rest and prepare for the next day, the adventure is just beginning.
DAY 2 - Antigua and Towns ATV
After enjoying your breakfast, your Tikal Go guide will pick you up to start the tour. In this tour we will visit some of the interesting towns located around Antigua, we start at Cerro de la Cruz where we will be able to appreciate a spectacular view between the colonial architecture of Antigua and the majestic Agua Volcano. We continue our journey to San Juan del Obispo, we will visit an artisan chocolate factory. We will also visit a local wine store, where you can taste local wines made from various fruits such as medlar or jocote. We continue to our next town, San Pedro de las Huertas, where they will give us an introduction to the wealth of the Mayas, Jade; we will see how some rocks end up in fine jewelry. Then we go to Ciudad Vieja, the second capital of Guatemala, where we will be able to photograph the first cathedral built in Central America in the year 1534.
Our last stop before lunch is San Antonio Aguas Calientes, where you can see the most beautiful handmade textiles. The last stop is at “Valhalla”, a macadamia nut plantation. Before or after lunch we will take a short tour of the plantation and see the process of growing and harvesting the nuts. We also have the option of going to a local brewery nearby, where we can have lunch or sample one of the craft beers they offer. Finishing our lunch we headed back to Antigua.
DAY 3 - Acatenango volcano – day 1
After your breakfast at your hotel, your Tikal Go Guide will pick you up to continue our journey. After an hour of walking we will arrive at Aldea Soledad and we will start our walk with several stops along the way. The trail to the Volcano has 4 different microclimates, each one will take us approximately an hour and a half to cross them. Once we arrive at the camp, we can settle in, enjoy the sunset and if we are lucky, see the eruption of the Fuego Volcano at night.
DAY 4 - Acatenango volcano – day 2
At 04:00 am we will begin to ascend for approximately 45 minutes. Upon reaching the summit we will be at 3976 m, there we will rest and we will be able to enjoy the sunrise and the majestic view of the summits of Guatemala. After an hour we will return to the camp and get ready for the descent. Upon arrival in Antigua we will have the afternoon free to rest or continue touring the fantastic Colonial City.
DAY 5 - Lake Atitlán, boat tour
We will pick you up at 05:00 am to go to the most beautiful lake in the world: Lake Atitlán. On the way we will make a stop for breakfast in Tecpán and thus gain strength to continue our journey. We will arrive at your hotel in Panajachel, we will leave our suitcases and we will continue with the boat tour to visit the towns of Santiago and San Juan. You will have the afternoon free to discover this magical place.
DAY 6 - Lake Atitlán, paragliding
After breakfast at your hotel, we will pick you up and head to the summit, where we will have an adrenaline-charged activity: Paragliding. Upon arrival we will give you the instructions and all the necessary equipment to carry out this experience. The flight lasts approximately 25 minutes, you can fly over the wonderful Lake Atitlán and really enjoy a unique view. Then we land at the Panajachel pier and you will have the afternoon free to relax or you will also have the option of kayaking in one of the most beautiful lakes in the world and continue enjoying the incredible views that it offers us.
DAY 7 - Chichi market, flight to Flores
We pass by your hotel and head to the Chichicastenango market, considered the largest market in Central America. Walking through its corridors we can appreciate its colors in its various textile products, ceramics, masks, flowers and candles. You will be able to photograph the Church of Santo Tomás, observe shamans performing ceremonies and rituals with candles and incense, live the Mayan mysticism that lives today and witness the magic and idiosyncrasy of this unique place. Then we will continue on our way to Guatemala, making a few stops until we reach La Aurora International Airport, and we will fly to Mundo Maya International Airport in Flores. Upon arrival, the Tikal Go staff will be waiting for you to take you to your hotel in Tikal.
DAY 8 - Tikal Sunrise and Archaeological
Our Tikal Go guide will pick you up very early as we will start our day watching the sunrise from Temple IV where we will wait for the new day to begin. If you don’t look at the sun, don’t get angry, in the tropical forest many times it dawns very cloudy but the mist will disappear and you will be offered one of the most beautiful views of your life. In temple IV you can eat the delicious Box Breakfast that Tikal Go will have for you. We will continue with our tour of the Lost World, the Seven Temples, Temple III, the Plaza Mayor, Temple I, the North Acropolis and the Central Acropolis. Then we will have lunch in a restaurant inside the Tikal National Park. At the end we return to the hotel, where we will have the afternoon free to enjoy the amenities that it offers us.
DAY 9 - Blue Crater
We will pick you up at your hotel in Tikal and after an hour and a half of travel we will arrive at Sayaxché, where the boat will be waiting for us to go to the Blue Crater.
During the two-hour journey on the La Pasión River we will be able to enjoy the vegetation and observe the animals that live in this area. We will arrive at the Blue Crater and you will also visit the Pucté Stream where you will be able to observe the circular formation of crystalline waters and the incredible underwater gardens. We will have a country lunch at the place and then we will return to Sayaxché again, where our transportation will be waiting for us to go to the romantic and tropical Isla de Flores.
Day 10 - Return to Guatemala City
We pick you up at the hotel and accompany you to the Mundo Maya International Airport, so that you can take your flight back to Guatemala City, hoping that you have had one of the best experiences of your life with us.
